Download Description. New IBM xSeries firmware and device driver file naming convention; New firmware update file formats; Having trouble downloading a file from our site? IBM ServeRAID 8k and 8k-l BIOS and Firmware Update Adapters Supported: IBM ServeRAID 8k SAS Controller (25R8064) IBM ServeRAID 8k-l SAS Controller (n/a). I need a DOS driver for a building a ghost boot disk for a IBM ServeRAID 8k/8k-l SAS controller. IBM's site has nothing but Win2k/Win2k3 drivers for the IBM ServeRAID 8k/ 8k SAS controllers. I understand this adapter, while loaded under Win2k3 uses an Adaptec driver according to what I'm seeing in Device Manager. Download drivers for IBM ServeRAID 8k/8k-l Controller. Drivers found: 3. To download the drivers, select the appropriate version of driver and supported operating system.

Extracted their ibm_fw_sraidmr_m5000-12.15.0-0226_linux_32-64.bin and it looked like they were checking for hardware IBM comparability. In one of their files they posted the version number 12.15.0-226 upgrade. Also in a script, they used storcli[x86] to install their m5000fw.romSerendipitously searched and found the Lenovo site http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds040844
and they just released 12.15.0-226 in Aug 2015. Their 92609280.rom is not surprisingly the size as the earlier released IBM m5000fw.rom. Fortunately they posted this encouraging tidbit:
Supported operating system and device
- All Operating Systems
- LSI 9260-8i SAS RAID Card
- LSI 9280-8i SAS RAID Card

After flashing, I checked the raid using
storcli -version -ctrl -a<N>
Need to replace <N> to actual digital number start from 0 (0, 1, 2, ...), depending on how many LSI RAID adapters you have installed on server.
Good to go!
I am at the latest firmware update.
